Build a scarecrow, plant a seed - try farming in the CBD
Come along to the Adelaide Botanic Garden this Sunday and help plant 1,200 True Gold corn seeds (kindly donated by Diggers Club). Children will have the opportunity to become farmers - in an hour-long session, planting corn and making mini scarecrows to take home and larger scare crows to protect City Crop's first crop of corn.
City Crop's site is 425 square metres in all - farmers will be invited to return on Sunday 1 February to harvest and taste their crops. To find out more about this exciting initiative, visit the website www.environment.sa.gov.au/botanicgardens/Whats_on/Events/city-corn-crop to find out more.
There are 5 sessions in all throughout the day. Each child attending needs to present their booking ticket (available from www.eventbrite.com.au/e/city-corn-crop-planting-day-tickets-12904936011). Adults do not require a ticket. With limited spaces - bookings are required by 23rd October 2014.
