Asian style food with loads of flavour
Good food which is presented well makes any dining experience a fabulous one. My husband and I were treated to one recently when we chose to dine at Citron. We were hit with many great tastes, flavours and sights.
Citron Restaurant is located in the neighbourhood of Wilston along the popular Kedron Park Road. The title of the restaurant boasted modern Asian cuisine which intrigued and excited our tastebuds. The atmosphere of the restaurant itself appeared relaxed, spacious, causal yet refined. We were seated "outdoors" on the large covered verandah. This was quite lovely on this particular evening as it was typical balmy Queensland weather.
The menu has a good number of very enticing dishes and this made our decision somewhat difficult. We chose the taste plate for our appetiser on the advice of the waiter. This was good as we could sample one of each of the appetisers. This consisted of sandcrab with freshly shaved coconut with chilli and coriander, small oxtail bun and minced prawn, pork and peanuts on pineapple. Yum! A very neat and well presented dish with wonderful flavours to match. A very good choice and great start to our dining experience.
Our main meals arrived soon after and we were very happy with our selections. My choice was the white cooked chicken salad with pickled wombok and carrots, ginger, cucumber and chilli fried peanuts ($34). My husband had chosen the grilled pork neck, roast chilli relish, green papaya, peanuts and dried shrimp ($37).
The dishes oozed fresh exotic flavours and we both were suitably impressed as were our taste buds.
The restaurant is open both for lunch and dinner and is licensed with a decent sized wine list also to choose from. Our waitstaff on this evening were warm, friendly and quite helpful in regards to their knowledge and information of the menu and dishes on offer.
