Breakfast at one of the newest gave off a distinctive Mediterranean vibe with its cream and yellow decor and potted fruit trees. Dining alfresco underneath a leafy Poinciana tree I told my partner all I needed was a Vespa to feel like Audrey Hepburn in
Roman Holiday. You just know he responded with a totally blank expression, don't you?
Citron at 354 Main Road, Wellington Point, is a welcome addition to the Redlands with a menu that teases the tastebuds. The All Day Breakfast Menu includes some different delights including the Loaded Omelette - tomato, feta, parsley, spinach, kalamata olives and marinated artichokes - which the uninformed movie one scoffed down.
I opted for the Caprese Avocado Toast which consisted of sliced avocado, bocconcini, tomato and lemon on sourdough which meant I didn't need to eat for the rest of the day.
The Lunch Menu is available from 11am till 2:30pm and looks tempting. There is both indoor and outdoor seating and I can imagine easily losing several hours with friends in this smart but casual environment. Or maybe, like Audrey, enjoying a coffee with a slice of something sweet.
For those who are unable to start the day without a coffee, there is also a dedicated window to order your takeaway with seating provided.
Citron is open from 7am Tuesdays through to Sundays and closes at 3pm. ( Closed Mondays). Lunch reservations are recommended on 3207 2330.
