I'll admit it. I have a secret desire to be a high flying, wire walking martial arts action heroine and get me some Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon moves! Crazy, I know, but not beyond the realm of possibility, thanks to this new course at Cirquest in Bentley, where guest instructors from the Kevin Hawthorne Ninja School have partnered with Cirquest founder, Isobel Lyall, to offer exercises in self defence, stealth, traditional and emergency weaponry, flips and falls, climbing, parkour and circus acrobats.
While I was fairly competent in picking up some of the self defence katas, tumbling turned out to be a little more problematic. Seems my brain blanks out somewhat when I turn upside down, oh well, something to work on, I guess.
I had heaps of fun though, and the teachers are encouraging, supportive and patient.
