Circus Du Soleil presents 'Toruk The First Flight' inspired by James Cameron's Avatar playing at Adelaide Entertainment Centre from November 16th - 19th. It is written and directed by Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon and choreographed by Tuan Le and Tan Loc.
Avatar, the film, focuses on humans discovering Pandora, whereas Toruk is a mythical tale set three thousand years before the 2009 film. The Adelaide Entertainment Centre is transformed into the land of Pandora. The story is narrated by a "Na'vi Storyteller" and takes you on an epic journey that pushes the boundaries of imagination and possibility.
The story is set around two boys, Ralu and Entu, who are determined to save the Na'vi people. When the future of the Sacred Tree of Souls is threatened the boys take matters into their own hands. They learn that Toruk can help them save the Tree of Souls. Toruk is a Leonopteryxis which is a species of airborne predator and is brought to life as a life-sized puppet. Ralu, Entu and their new friend Tsyal set off to find Toruk in the mountains of Pandora. The prophecy says when a pure soul rises among the clans to ride Toruk for the first time it will save the Na'vi from a terrible fate.
Music accompaning this circus spectacular includes Omaticaya Clan, Lu Aw Nav', Shaman Story, Tawkami Clan, The Anurai Clan Sanctuary, Viperwolves and the Tipani Clan, Direhorses, Kekunan Clan, Hallelujah Mountains, The Toruk and Luminous Reunion.
The production stars Gabriel Christo & Jeremiah Hughes as Ralu, Daniel Crisp & Guillaume Paquin as Entu, Giulia Piolanti & Zoé Sabattié as Tsyal, Raymond O'Neill as The Anurai Storyteller and Priscilia Le Foll as The Shaman.
