Adelaide! Circus Rio has hit the northern suburbs! Ridley Reserve on Main North Road in Elizabeth Grove is the wide open venue for this bright and bold international event that's sure to please kids and adults of all ages. Families can enjoy a warm and enjoyable night out and witness jaw-dropping entertainment in a carnival atmosphere.

Start the night off right by grabbing a hot coffee and some popcorn or a snack as you enter. You can enjoy the rides and sideshows first but they're also open after the show. Lining up and walking into the big top feels like being transported away from the every day into the circus atmosphere we all know and love. There's plenty of room with excellent views all round and the tent is heated in the cooler months.

As you wait for the show (which isn't long), the colourful lighting and loud music build the Rio style carnival atmosphere. When the first act enters the ring to light up the night, you know you're in for a colourful riot of sound and light. Over the next two hours, Samba dancers and music tie the performances together beautifully with their exquisitely elaborate, glittery, and feathered costumes.

From what I can tell, the line-up of performers changes from time to time, reflecting the reality and hard work behind delivering live circus but I think this is one of the coolest things about it. You just never know just what amazing lineup you're going to see! But rest assured, you'll never leave disappointed. There's so much variety here and this circus will have you wanting more.

You'll witness feats of balance, skill, strength and illusion delivered with exuberance and flair that will have you glued to your seat (except for intermission… you know you want more popcorn). My children were so absorbed in what was unfolding before their eyes that they didn't ask for anything or complain once (tick!). The last act, a spectacular motocross jump display, took the noise, speed and danger levels of the show to new heights.

The final remarkable thing that makes a trip to Circus Rio far more rewarding than boring old Netflix is that kids and parents can meet the stars of the show and get photos with them at the end. For starry-eyed kids, this is a way to end the show that they'll never forget.

Circus Rio plays at Ridley Reserve, Elizabeth Grove from 16th May to 26th May and then heads to Noarlunga, show times and bookings are available here . Don't miss them Adelaide! Flash photography isn't permitted (understandable really) but you can take as many photos as you like without flash.
