Circus Joseph Ashton will be celebrating their recent wins at the Australian Circus Festival and Australian Circus Industry Awards with shows in Ellenbrook from Friday May 20th till WA Day on Monday June 6.
The well-known Perth based family of performers won the "Circus Best Front of House" which is judged on the overall atmosphere of the big top, including the setup of the entrance, the foyer and circus main arena.
The award performer Bekki Ashton is particularly proud of winning this year, is the Immortal Award, presented to the entire Ashton Family for services to the industry. The Immortal Award was founded as a tribute to recognise circus performers of the past.
Bekki's grandmother and Ashton Family matriarch, Phyllis was the first to receive this tribute, and seeing it come full circle was special.
"My mother Nikki and daughter Dante were there to accept the award, which was amazing and very memorable," she says. My grandmother passed in August 2000, so we feel a affinity to her and everything she did for the family business. Our love of the circus business is clear in every performance we do."
Circus Joseph Ashton will be celebrating their love of the travelling show business life with their season in Ellenbrook beginning Friday May 20th and culminating in a midday show on the WA Day Monday public holiday.
Audiences will laugh through the Ashton brothers' knockabout routine and will be in awe as Jordan Ashton presents the only legendary triple somersault on the flying trapeze in an Australian circus and Joseph Ashton performs the forward somersault on the outside of the Wheel of Death.
This festival of fun will be at Woodlake Reserve on Bronzewing Avenue. For bookings, please check the website here for details of performance dates and times for the season or call the Circus Hotline on 0411 302 095. Please book in advance, as tickets do sell fast.
