Melbourne artist Mark Ogge is bringing centuries-old traditions of the traditional circus, coin operated attractions and more to create a large three dimensional work of incredible charm, now at the Melbourne Arts Centre until March 20.

Lovers of art and circus are certain to enjoy the large, three-dimensional, mechanically operated diorama, reminiscent of Martin Engelbrecht's 18th century miniature paper theatres.

The hand drawn characters perform on an ornate and intricate stage, reminiscent of the vaudeville days and the exhibition includes a number of the original design artworks.

Mark Ogge is known for his commissions around the world for the facade of the Famous Spiegeltent you can often find on the Arts Centre forecourt. He's also recently worked with Melbourne's Luna Park with the enormous and newly installed carnival figures on the Park Grounds.

The Circus Automata was recently commissioned by Spiegelworld in celebration of the world premiere of their production Vegas Nocturne in Las Vegas in 2014.

Ogge's work has been previously exhibited at The Arts Centre
Melbourne as a solo exhibition, 'Smoke and Mirrors' in 2004 and has several of his previous artworks in their permanent collection.

The Circus Automata can be viewed for free at the Centre until March 20, 2016.
