Fine-Dining Brunch Out of a Car Garage Space
My friend from Parramatta kept on raving about a tiny cosy cafe near her place. "You really should check this place out! It's fantastic." She was right, it was great.



A tiny eccentric cafe operated in between a laneway garage space. We weren't sure how they pulled it off. But they did it. They are now the talk of the town.

My friend drove past it and all I saw was a large group people waiting. Initially I thought there was a house auction or a big charity/garage sale on today.



This unidentified cafe could easily be missed if you don't know where it is located. There were no signs, I wouldn't have found this place if my friend did not take me here.

A large brightly-painted graffiti wall greeted us, along with numerous milk crates and mismatching stools along the footpath.This cafe definitely got an incredible funky and edgy feel. I expected this in Surry Hills, but not in Parramatta.

Is this really a cafe or were we trespassing on someone's messy garage?

Menu Selection


We put in a lot of consideration into our brunch selections. We were tired with same-ol same-ol limited carbon-copy breakfast selections in the city CBD, so we were looking for something different and affordable at the same time.

The meal selections looked tantalisingly delicious and well-priced.

Drinks & Coffee


We started the meal with Circa's Specialty Coffee Offering - Hot Filter - Hario V60 ($8). It was an unusual coffee drink served out of a wine glass. The coffee was highly aromatic with a hint of floral fragrance, sweet citrus & peach notes.

It was a beautifully brewed coffee.

I ordered a silver jasmine iced tea ($5) and it was one of the nicest tea I had for a while. The green tea was infused with jasmine and lemon to give a smooth and refreshing finish. It was lightly sweetened and served on ice. I liked this drink a lot.

Then the wait-game started.

Our food sure took a long time to arrive.

Upon investigation, the kitchen has forgotten our orders due to a system error! Oh dear. We were totally starved and like the 3 Little Match Girls, we looked longingly at nearby table's delicious meals and tried to inconspicuously inhale their food aroma.

The Portobello mushrooms arrived like a stack tower. It was deliciously stuffed with baked ricotta & parmesan, walnut, served with aromatic basil pesto with creamy Gorgonzola dolce on a thick sourdough with roquette.

It was incredible delicious!

Well...after 45 minutes of starvation, perhaps my taste buds were a little biased.

It was a good tasty dish nevertheless.

crispy pork belly


We also ordered Today's Special which was Crispy Pork Belly on BBQ baked beans with wilted spinach & poached egg. A good inventive spin from your normal baked beans and pork sausages.

It was a very hearty dish and it has that good old comfort feel.

The baked beans were tasty and highlighted the beautiful crispy pork belly. They added a well-poached egg for good measure just in case we were big-eaters.

French Toast


After the delicious mains, of course we ordered something from the sweet menu. We fell in love with the sweet taste of this French toast which was elegantly garnished with poached rhubarb, mascarpone labne, cinnamon, berries, figs and crusted pistachio.

It was heavenly and not-overly sweet. We enjoyed it a lot.

Desserts


We continued our catch ups and merriment with a Lemon Meringue and a Chocolate caramel tart. They complemented nicely with a good pot of tea.

The staff were friendly and upbeat. The manager/owner was efficient and looked after us well despite the hiccups.



This is not the best cafe for large groups, but definitely worth it to share with your closest intimate friends. Despite the wait, I still like this shabby chic cafe operating out of someone's garage.
