Open for lunch Tuesday to Friday, and dinner, Tuesday to Saturday, this 180 seat restaurant and bar delivers authentic traditional Sri Lankan cuisine including hoppers, kottu, stringhoppers, roti, and a variety of rice and curry dishes, as well as a mix of Western choices such as tandoori chicken and chips, and calamari with rice.
Fish cutlets @ Cinnamons
The dishes are spicy, even when selecting non-spicy options. I chose the fish curry combo with string hoppers (you can choose either string hoppers, rice or roti), coconut sambal, and lentil curry. It had fragrant aromatic spices, full of flavour, with the fish curry being disappointingly overcooked. The fish cutlets however, were notably handmade, fresh and delicious.
My colleagues recommend the eggplant moju (a house speciality) and cashew curry combo, served with light and fluffy roti bread. This is a dish that some order every time they eat here, so it's sure to be good.
Cinnamons is a quiet and spacious venue, accommodating large groups. On Fridays, enjoy a $20 rice and curry buffet lunch from 12noon to 3pm, or in the evening, and on Saturday nights, enjoy an international buffet and live music, for $34.90 per person.
