Next to smoothies ice tea is my favourite summer drink. The varieties are endless, and all you need is tea, water and any added sweetness of your choice.
The best thing about making your own ice tea is that it's always going to be the healthier alternative rather than buying it at the store, and you can always change the flavours. It's a great treat for when you're entertaining some guests.
Ingredients:
1. Lipton Cinnamon & Apple tea bags x 2 or 3
(I used 2 for this recipe but it was a little weak tasting for my liking, so I would use 3 tea bags.
2. 2-3 cups of water. The amount of water will depend on the size of your jug.
3. Sugar or honey (according to taste).
Method:
1. Boil your water.
2. Find a decent sized jug that'll fit the amount of ice-tea you plan on making. Add your tea bags and boiling water.
3. The longer you leave the tea bags brewing in the water, the stronger the flavour will be. As you can see in the photo the darker the tea goes the stronger the flavour. I like to take them out at the very end.
4. If you are going to be adding any sugar or honey do it while the water is still hot. If you try to add it while it's cold it will not dissolve.
5. If you don't want to wait to drink your tea you can add ice in a serving glass and enjoy it like that. I personally like letting it cool in the fridge because sometimes the ice melts and makes the tea watery. If you know you're having guests over it's probably best to make this the night before, or early in the morning.
