If you're like me and you adore going out to the movies but hate the price tag that is usually attached to it, Cineplex cinemas is a breath of fresh air.

Instead of having the thrill of seeing a new movie spoiled by having to dish out $15 dollars or more for each ticket, at Cineplex cinemas you don't have to worry about the wallet so much with regular tickets never going over $9 dollars. Even for the more expensive 3D movies, they will take a $1 off the price if you bring your own 3D glasses which is a far cry from many of the bigger name movie cinemas that can charge you up to $3 dollars for the privilege of using their own glasses that they throw out at the end of the movie.

But this line of cinemas are not just good because they are cheap. They are good because they have brought back something of the "small cinema" feel to the experience of seeing a movie. Particularly with the smaller cinemas at Hawthorne and Balmoral which have cosy little theatres in which feel much more connected to the rest of audience while watching the movie. The theatres at Southbank are much bigger but still maintain that feeling that you have come somewhere different from the usual chains of movie cinemas that seem much more focused on money as the bottom line.

All the cinemas boast cafes which have decent coffees at Victoria Point and Southbank but, calling the canteens at Hawthorne and Balmoral "cafes" is a bit of a stretch for the imagination. All the cinemas have a candy bar also, which are cheaper than other cinemas in areas like popcorn, soft drinks and ice creams but the brand name lollies and chocolate are still the same price as everywhere else.

All in all, these cinemas are brilliant places to take the kids for a treat or to have a cosy, romantic time with that special someone.
