Canberra is a great city for Cinema, particularly during the colder months and school holidays, when the movies provide a great escape for the family.

DENDY
Dendy Cinemas in Canberra Centre shows new and feature films, and hosts the International Film Festival.

GREATER UNION
Greater Union (Event) Cinema is near Manuka Oval and although it shows feature films it has a focus on independent films, and is less mainstream.

HOYTS
Westfield at Woden has a Hoyts Cinemas that is a bit further out of the city, but still easily accessible.

ARCHIVES
Arc Cinema at the National Film and Sound Archive in Acton, screens traditional and digital format movies that capture the history of Australia.

Palace Electric is close to the Archives in the city, and covers international cinema, documentary and independent film.
