Great food and people watching on Oxford St
I love a leisurely Sunday brunch. I headed over to Oxford Street recently with a friend looking for some coffee, and brunch.

Affogatto

Initially confused as restaurants were open but weren't serving until midday (it was about 11:30am), especially as we were starving. We tried three different restaurants along the strip before finding Cinema Cafe. We were bemused further, being told breakfast was no longer being served, and lunch orders wouldn't come out of the kitchen until 12noon, but that we could order from their (limited) all-day breakfast menu. Hmmm, we were now ravenous but found the good ole favourite eggs Benedict, with option of ham, smoked salmon or avocado, and promptly ordered.

The interior of the cafe has cinematic memorabilia lining the walls, and we people-watched until coffees arrived. The affogattos were served with a generous serving of ice cream, shot of espresso with a good amount of crema. We'd both ordered eggs Benny with smoked salmon, mine with sauce on the side, and drank some room temperature water to keep hydrated while we waited for the meals to arrive.

Each of the meals were delicious, and even though the cafe was busy, we were given space to enjoy a chat and some more people-watching after we'd finished our meals, with a waitress bringing a second bottle of water to the table after the plates were cleared. It was agreed that we'd be back to eat here again, although taking into account the window where the kitchen was only serving from the all-day menu.

Cinema Cafe is located in Bulimba on the Oxford Street stretch that many know and love. Closed on Mondays, it's fully licensed and BYO, with gluten free and vegetarian options.
