CinefestOZ Film Festival is a festival set against the stunning backdrop of Western Australia's iconic South West region.

It is an annual event and celebrates great films. It incorporates some of Australia's most beautiful areas and the world-class Margaret River wines and gourmet fresh foods.



People who love this South West region of WA will enjoy joining their holiday with the best of Australian film culture and natural attractions.

Visitors, filmmakers and film-lovers will be able to mix here and enjoy premiere events, and cosy sidebar events with food and wine. Visit the region's cinemas, wineries, boutique breweries, small bars and galleries, making it a spectacular destination experience and an unforgettable long-weekend getaway.

You will be able to have incredible lunches overlooking vineyards, watch general screenings, have family activities and free community events over the five days in August.

Celebrating Australian Film, the 11th annual CinefestOZ Film Festival will showcase an extraordinary line-up of new and exciting films from 22nd to 26th August 2018.



It is Australia's Premier Film Festival and awards Australia's largest Film Prize of $100,000! CinefestOZ attracts Australian filmmakers and actors of international repute.

With over 200 enthralling screenings and film-related event options, spread across more than 40 venues, film lovers and stars converge to share the excitement of this film festival. CinefestOZ is indeed the "must-attend" event of the year for filmmakers and film lovers.



It will be staged in various locations including Busselton, Bunbury and Margaret River and the CinefestOZ program includes a diverse range of unique and immersive film experiences for everyone, including premier events:

The Red Carpet Feature Film Premieres and Gala Night
In Conversation lunches at magnificent winery and brewery locations
Cosy Side Bars Events, screening sets of themed short films
General Screenings of Australian and other feature films
Industry Events, with guest filmmakers and industry experts
Free Community Screenings and Community Events

Well known guests who have previously enjoyed this film festival, often called "Australia's friendliest" include Ben Elton, Jack Thompson, Hugo Weaving, Sarah Snook and Xavier Samuel!

Some of the events will be held at the CinefestOZ Film Festival Headquarters, 24 Albert Street, Busselton.

Bunbury Opening Night - Backtrack Boys
Join filmmakers and stars for a pre-screening welcome drink at Grand Cinemas ahead of the premiere of the Australian documentary, Backtrack Boys.

Opening night is a fabulous, magical night as well as a cinematic experience. Following the film, shift venues to the beautifully refurbished Maker & Co for an entertaining filmmaker Q&A and delicious bites. The bar is open for drinks purchases. This will be on 22nd at 5.30 pm.

Premiere Events
Margaret River Premiere – The Pretend One
The WA premiere of The Pretend One is presented indoors at Cape Mentelle.

This romantic movie at this lovely location will include pre-screening canapes, refreshments and live music. A filmmaker Q&A follows the film.

Bunbury Premiere – In Like Flynn
Bunbury city will host an evening of new film, red carpet and famous people as CinefestOZ presents the WA Premiere of In Like Flynn. This is an action-adventure film about the life of Errol Flynn, which will give you a good laugh!

It will be on at the BREC Skybar where there will be complimentary canapes, as well as VIP filmmakers and guests. A Q&A follows the screening, and the bar is open for drink purchases.

IndigifestOZ Day
This will be on Friday, 24th August, and will present Aboriginal films and activities during the CinefestOZ Film Festival.

IndigifestOZ shows quality Indigenous films including feature films in General Screenings, short films in Festival Side Bars and in the free Community Screenings.

Each year IndigifestOZ includes an exciting line up of films, events and Indigenous film guests. There is something unique about attending a film screening as part of the CinefestOZ Festival community!

There will be popular FREE Community Screenings at accessible locations across the South West. This year Sigrid Thornton will be chairing CinefestOZ Film Festival's 2018 Film Prize jury.

Throughout her career, Sigrid has been awarded many film, television, theatre awards and nominations including Silver and Gold Logie, AFI, Mo and IF awards.

Sigrid is widely acknowledged as an icon of the Australian screen, television and stage.
