Taking a stroll around
Maryborough Queensland looking at the old shop facades, I came across Cinders Attic Boutique in Ellena Street. I can honestly say, I have driven down the street before but never taken the time to look around.

The shop is located in a part of the historic
Bells Vue Hotel, which now consists of accommodation upstairs and shops downstairs. The age of the building can easily be noticed inside the shop, with lofty ceilings, wall finishings of that era and crimpled glass windows leading into the inner part of the hotel. Although a small shop, the height of the ceilings creates a very open and inviting atmosphere.

Owner Debbi Cavanagh has been a resident of Maryborough for the past three years, having first started with a boutique in Adelaide Street before settling on the Ellena Street premises. She aims to provide quality natural fibre clothing for the mature-aged women of Maryborough and from what she told me; she is achieving her goal. Her garments do not stay with sizes for the "twiggy" style lady; Debbi caters for the woman with a blossoming figure as well. Even the older ladies have purchased casual wear for bus trips and holidays.

The climate in Queensland allows us to wear different clothing from what you would wear if living in Victoria, thereby all year round you can find three-quarter pants, lightweight slacks,
dresses, shorts, pinafores, handbags, scarves and more.

A greater percentage of Debbi's stock is
Linen, a quality and popular fabric today. You may ask what is the difference between linen and
cotton and why is the price a little higher for linen? Linen, like cotton, is a natural fibre, however, it takes longer to harvest and made into fabric as flax fibres are hard to weave. To soften the fabric, the plant fibres are stored for a longer period of time than cotton fibres and when make into fabric, they are wrapped together more tightly to gain strength and longevity. The only downside may be that some linen can wrinkle slightly more, however, I always believe, if I am in a linen outfit, I know I am dressing in quality.
If you are looking for a new dress for a special occasion or something to wear on your next holiday, pop into
Cinders Attic Boutique for a unique outfit. There is a rack at the back of the shop with "sale" items, all of which are affordable and one you cannot live without.
