I am a hungry artist living and working in Sydney. I am completing a philosophy degree and enjoy life.

Fine dining without the confetti at Cinchetti
Cicchetti Bar/Restaurant is located in the beautiful QVB in the heart of Sydney and offers a wide variety of fine wines that you can enjoy on their own or with a wonderful meal.

The whole experience of coming here gives a new meaning to the phrase 'fine dining'. The wait staff are all very professional and know the classical meaning of table arrangements – where and how you leave your cutlery on the plate indicates if you are finished or still eating your meal.

The cutlery itself is beautiful and it is a treat to sip fine blends of tea out of lovely fine bone china cups and delicately rest them in the equally fine saucers. The place makes you feel like the most sophisticated you that you can be. It is a wonderful place to take someone you love for a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary.

There is an extensive dining menu however you really can't skip on the dessert. It is the sort of experience in life that you will regret if you don't try it. In keeping with the theme of the whole place the desserts are sophisticated and look like little artworks in themselves. The lemon tarts with a slice of preserved lemon are tangy and sweet with perfect buttery pastry. The passionfruit cheesecake slice is rich and creamy with a tangy layer of fruity flavour. The chocolate mousse domes are cute and shiny. They have the softest, most creamy, chocolate texture you are ever likely to encounter, under a perfect shell of rich dark chocolate. It's just perfect to see the look on your dining companion's face as they crack open the dome and discover the delights inside.

They have a golden macaroon on the menu. You cannot go past these little slices of indulgence. They are seductively sweet and perfectly chewy, with a little thick layer of crunch. It is a strange and wonderful experience to dine on something that has evidently taken someone who is very skilful hours to prepare. It is hard to describe what it is like… perhaps the best analogy is the surreal experience of eating an intricately prepared artwork?

Sweet Treats
Sweet Treats

There is so much sensory indulgence here, everything from the cutlery, to the curtains and the fine food looks and feels luxurious. So for that special occasion or celebration this is one of the best locations for fine dining and fine food. Forget the expense, you will create memories that will last a lifetime, and really isn't that priceless?

While the desserts and high tea are definitely the highlight of this eatery they do offer some scrumptious main meals too. Some of the best mains on offer are:

Fresh smashed avocado on sourdough toast bread with tomato, feta & balsamic reduction, with spinach, beetroot, and pumpkin salad that is available for only $19.90.

I would highly recommend the vegetarian risotto ($27) with sides of baked potatoes with rosemary ($8) and green vegetables ($8,). It is a very tasty and satisfying combination that will leave you ever so full.

Some of the best cocktails on offer here are:

Tequila Sunrise - tequila, orange juice, grenadine ($16.00). It is sweet and has just the right type of kick to it.

Pims - Pims, lemonade, orange, cucumber, mint and lemon. You will be surprised by the freshness of the flavor of this drink. It goes down well for $16.00

Bloody Mary - vodka, tomato juice, Tabasco, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, salt, pepper and celery. They make it the traditional way with all the right spices and don't skip the little touches like the right amount of lemon juice. Enjoy this personal favorite for only $16.00.

Cosmopolitan - citrus vodka, Cointreau, cranberry and lime juice. You will feel like you are really living that Sex and the City lifestyle with this perfectly blended drink. It is on offer for $18.00

Champagne Cocktails are fantastic here and will definitely put you in a happy mood. Try the Belinni which is made with prosecco, peach puree and peach schnapps on offer for only $20.00 or the Mimosa (champagne and orange juice) also available for $20.00.

High tea is just wonderful if you are in the mood for something indulgent. They offer a selection of cakes, finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with jam and cream, and tea or coffee for $65.00 set for two or $35.00 set for one person.

Another great idea for a dainty catch up with friends is the
Devonshire tea, which comes with freshly baked scones with cream and house made jam, tea or coffee and costs $20.00 per person. A lovely idea for those in the mood for something sweet is to try the selection of pastry, cake and macaroon with tea or coffee for $25.00 per person.

Those who love savoury tastes they will be satisfied with the
selection of finger sandwiches and soft buns, tea or coffee for
$22.00 per person with many gluten free choices available.

Mocktails (Non Alcoholic) are $10.00 each. They are a refreshing choice on hot summer days. The best of the mocktails on offer are:
Shirley Temple - lemonade, grenadine
Strawberry Punch - guava juice, strawberries, coconut syrup
Passion berry Punch - orange juice, passion fruit, raspberry puree

So if you need or want a fancy treat to take someone special for a celebration or catch up for any reason head over to Cicchetti at Level 2 in the fabulous QVB this summer.
