Ciao tutti! Are you up for an Italian experience without having to leave Australia? Si, si, it's all happening for 2 weeks on Melbourne's doorstep. Ciao Yarra Valley Ciao is a celebration of all things Italian - produce, wine, cooking and hospitality.
Yarra Ranges Tourism is partnering with the internationally recognised Giro della Donna and Targa Florio and together they are going to turn the time from 15 November to 1 December into an Italian Festa of all Festas.
Healesville's Green Street will again host the Festa di via Verde which will coincide with the Targa Florio Australian Tribute running along River street. River Street will be closed to allow for the cars to complete their time trials and give spectators the opportunity to marvel at the these drivers' skill and finesse. With more than 100 classic cars, it will certainly be a grand spectacle when they arrive.
Music, tomato throwing competition, tarantella dancing, Italian entertainment and Italian culture will all be part of the celebrations in Green Street on November 16th. And of course food will feature heavily not just at the Festa di Via Verde but throughout the 2 weeks of celebrations. Lunches, dinner under the stars, masterclasses in cooking and wine will entice people from far and wide to come join in the festivities. Many events are selling out quickly, so check out the program here.
The Giro della Donna is known as a tough race in the most beautiful place. Since 2015 it has taken place in Australia and attracts many local and overseas riders. But the race is not just about tough riding but also about celebrating communities, towns and people along the way. On the 23rd and 24th November, The Warburton Golf Club will be transformed into the Giro Village with food, entertainment, expo and celebration of bike riders and the community.
With all these events you better brush up on your Italian and get ready to indulge in some Dolce Vita in the Yarra Valley. For info on how to get there and parking possibilities, check here.
