by Ellen Maiorano (subscribe)
A Melbourne girl. Filmmaker, writer, general creator of things
Event: -
Chunky Move's latest offering sees them collaborating with Victorian Opera, creating Assembly. Entirely set on one large staircase, Assembly explores crowds in motion, chaos and harmony.

In a unique melding of voice and movement, Assembly promises to push the boundaries of dance. Through using the latest technology and the best of other performance disciplines, we are given a multi-modal and truly innovative work in line with the recent offerings from Chunky Move: Connected, Faker and Mortal Engine.

Assembly also sees Gideon Obarzanek choreograph his last work as the Artistic Director of Chunky Move, before moving on after heading the company since its foundation in 1995.

Assembly premieres in a limited season as part of the Melbourne Festival 2011. Bookings are available online.
