American Cuisine
Located on O'Connell Street in North Adelaide, Chuck Wagon serves a variety of American cuisine -- one of the most notable menu items being their burgers. It is very popular with the locals, so be advisable to arrive early to secure a seat. We were also quite surprised that the ambience was similar to a restaurant, as opposed to the cafe-like ambience of the other burger bars we've eaten at.

Out of their range of burgers, we decided to order the Piglet, Texan and Chuck Gourmet. The Piglet had a unique taste from the braised pork shoulder and the coleslaw helped to round out the flavour of the burger. The chicken breasts in the Chuck Gourmet were cooked perfectly and the fillings of the burger complemented it nicely. Their Texan burger had a juicy piece of chuck steak that was grilled to perfection and the Jack Daniels BBQ sauce helped to give it its smoky flavour.

Apart from the burgers, the other American dishes served here are hot dogs, ribs and chicken wings. The Atlanta Chilli Dog features a perfectly cooked hot dog with crispy skin and the beef & bean chilli con carne, coleslaw and mustard helped to round out its flavour. Although the chicken wings were not as steaming hot as we had hoped, they still had a very crunchy coating that contrasted nicely with the tender meat. The chicken wings are ordered coated with your choice of either buffalo or Jack Daniels BBQ sauce.

To accompany the meals, you can order from a wide range of side dishes. The fries were a bit ordinary apart from the Tex Mex spices sprinkled on them, but the Onion Rings and Portobello Chips were crunchy and delectable. All three came with dipping sauces which helped to give them an extra element of flavour. The coleslaw had a slightly bitter taste that was contrasted wonderfully by the creamy dressing.

To finish off your meal, Chuck Wagon offers a good range of desserts. The Original Nutella Burger had a patty made from the chocolate hazelnut spread, Nutella, which gives its chocolaty flavour and the whipped cream, marshmallows and strawberry sauce complemented it perfectly. The S'mores Waffles had large fluffy waffles and the topping inspired by S'mores, an American treat consisting of chocolate and toasted marshmallow sandwiched between two biscuits, it was delicious.
