Who has ever been intrigued by the ukulele, that marvelous Hawaiian instrument that evokes images of the tropics, luaus, and summertime fun.
We are in luck here in Sydney this summer, as
Chuck Morgan of the
Janet Seidel Trio will be running the summer school of ukulele on January 23rd at the
Glebe Café Church from 9:30am-3:30pm. Participants can choose to do one of three 90 minute segments or do the workshop for the whole day.
In this one day workshop participants will have the opportunity to learn and play the ukulele. The workshop is open to all skill levels and at the end students will have the opportunity to play with the
Janet Seidel Trio from 5-6pm as part of a family concert.
Chuck says that in the workshops he teaches," the environment is really supportive and the students have fun learning from each other. We focus on techniques and exercises that help everybody to learn to play the ukulele well." Students should bring a ukulele to the workshop.
Chuck Morgan is one of Australia's leading guitarists, a highly talented and versatile musician. He is an extraordinary ukulele player, and a patient and creative teacher who has inspired students across Australia. One participant in Goolwa, Jane Bennett had this to say about Chuck's workshop, "The workshops were fun and challenging, great to play with Janet, Chuck and David and all the uke students. Never too old to try something new."
As the saying goes, "When was the last time you tried something new?" 2013 is a great year to try new things and a ukulele workshop is an excellent way to start.
