Located within Topman Mall in the Adelaide CBD, Chu Chu specialises in fusion Japanese cuisine, with dishes ideal for eating in-house or takeaway. In addition to their main menu, the café also offers specials for those that like a bit of variety.

Their Okonomiyaki had enough prawn and squid for a nice meaty texture and the cabbage provided a bit of crunch. It was topped with poached eggs for a Western touch. The eggs had lovely runny yolks. Also topping the Okonomiyaki were okonomiyaki sauce, Japanese mayonnaise and bonito flakes to give it a typical Japanese flavour and spring onions gave it a fresh appearance.

A good choice for those wanting something a bit different from the usual Ramen soup, the ramen noodles in the Dry Ramen were cooked al dente and the homemade sauce imparted a delectable umami flavour. The slices of pork belly were juicy and the bok choy still had a bit of bite to it. The onsen egg topping the ramen can be mixed into it for a richer taste.

The crumbed prawns in the Panko Prawn Burger did not taste fishy and was set off wonderfully by the crumb coating. The mixed greens and tomatoes added some freshness and the seafood mayonnaise imparted a bit of a tangy flavour. For a more filling meal, sweet potato chips can be added for an extra cost.

The décor of the café gave it a cosy feel. Its location in the Adelaide CBD makes it convenient for those working in the city looking for café food that is a bit different from the norm.
