C H R O N I C L E is the latest solo art exhibition by talented Perth artist Sioux Tempestt.
This unique mixed media exhibition celebrates the stunning heritage architecture of Perth and will open on Friday 8th July 2016 at the Museum of Perth.
Originally from England, Sioux has called Perth home for many years and works predominantly with acrylic paint but includes aerosol, watercolour and ink in her pieces. With a background in graphic design, Sioux also produces art digitally.
C H R O N I C L E re-imagines Perth's architectural heritage through photography, digital manipulation and various printing techniques. The collection of works explores the built environment and the changes in structure design over the years.
Discover dusty and neglected buildings, as well as others which are beautifully renovated. Through these enduring walls and doors we can visualise yesteryear. From the laughter of young children heard echoing through the wooden clad hallways, to emigrants working tirelessly seven days a week in the factories, the yards, the infrastructure and stores. Witness the maids in the sculleries, red cheeked and sweaty, toiling away on a hot summer's day.
See Perth de-constructed and reconfigured and take a moment to preserve, respect, honour and remember our heritage. Complementing the exhibition is a short documentary style, behind-the-scenes film screening in the micro cinema. The film delves into the thought process and inspiration behind C H R O N I C L E. It also features Sioux painting a heritage themed mural in Grand Lane on opening night. Artefacts which have inspired the artist are also on display.
Among other artistic achievements Sioux has held four solo art exhibitions and was a finalist in the Black Swan Heritage Prize 2014 and 2013. Sioux is the creative director at UnchARTed Collective, a gallery in Mt Lawley showcasing the works of over 40 Perth creatives.
All are invited to attend the opening night on C H R O N I C L E on Friday 8th July, 6pm to 9pm at the Museum of Perth, Grand Lane, Perth. Light refreshments will be served. Please RSVP by June 24 to Kelly Price firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm your attendance.
The exhibition will then run till Friday 5th August 2016. Both large scale original artworks and limited edition prints will be available for purchase.
