An explosion of colour, culture, music, dance and much more is getting ready for you just around the corner at the 2018 Chrome Street Fiesta at Salisbury on Saturday 12th May. Follow the Pacific Motorway, just 10 minutes south of the CBD, take the Marshall Rd exit, head to Evans Rd and you're just about there.

This local art and cultural celebration brings the very best of the local community and environment to the rest of Brisbane. Salisbury has attracted many young and culturally diverse families who have moved into the suburb in recent years. Once again, a group of residents and business owners are organising the Fiesta, with the aim of showcasing and celebrating the talents, skills and interests within the community. Chrome Street, Salisbury is home to Reload Expresso Bar, one of the festival sponsors and a fabulous place with a South American vibe and great refreshments, VSassy Academy, which has previously provided burlesque performances and workshops, and The Atelier painting and drawing school, a cultural environment promising a vibrant program.

The Chrome Street Fiesta has been going and growing over the past three years. The Fiesta was launched in 2016 with great food, live music, local art, workshops for both children and adults, dance performances, information stalls and displays of local businesses and special interest groups. There was also a forum on the unique history of the District including its fascinating wartime munitions factory. Last year, the Chrome Street Fiesta was even bigger and better. The program continued to grow and there was a raffle with great prizes as well. Belly dancers, a burlesque workshop, clown and circus performer, culturally diverse music and dancing by for children and adults and art classes, costume making and a wonderful parade were enjoyed by the many local residents and visitors who came along.

In 2018, the Fiesta offers more space, local food, craft, information stalls and a dedicated children's area. This Fiesta can be enjoyed by singles, couple and families. There will be costume and instrument making in preparation for the parade, storytelling, face painting, lawn croquet, apple-bobbing and sewing workshops. An array of stalls will represent the cultural diversity and unique nature of the local area: tasty, original, arty, creative, handmade, quirky, interactive, colourful, refreshing and fun! The first performers to be advertised, the RiverCity Steel Band, set the scene for this party with their rhythmic, melodic Caribbean music. Once again, we can look forward to a great program and a fabulous day out.

Come and join us from 3-8pm on Saturday 12th May for all the fun at the 2018 Chrome Street Fiesta!
