Tucked away in a small shopping centre area in Daisy Hill, we discovered
Restaurant . My husband and I chose to have dinner here recently whilst our son was at soccer training. Our discovery turned out to be a pleasant one.
Christopher's is located at the corner of Daisy Hill Road and Allamanda Drive in Daisy Hill which is around 30 minutes from the city. They promote their cuisine as Modern Australian and Mediterranean. The restaurant is licensed and has quite an extensive wine and cocktail list. The place is small and intimate with an indoor eating area and an area outdoors which they can expand if the occasion called for it. Booking by phone is recommended.
We started with tender calamari with salad. My husband, who normally orders calamari when he dines out, was suitably impressed by Christopher's. It was lightly seasoned and very tender.
For mains I ordered the fish of the day which was grilled barramundi with prawns and smoked salmon all served on a green leafy avocado salad. The barramundi dish was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. I was happy.
My husband went for herb crusted lamb cutlets with cous cous and Mediterranean salad. It had a lot of Mediterranean flavour which was good but he thought that the lamb was a little dry for his liking - though he still finished it off. Being a wine bar we also enjoyed a glass or two of smooth tasting Shiraz.
The meal sizes were very generous and therefore we had no room to enjoy any of their beautiful looking desserts in the display cabinets. Instead we decided to take home a few to have another day. We were happy with this option and enjoyed gluten free mango cheesecake and hazelnut mousse cake the following day. Yum.
A very pleasant way to spend an evening with my husband is to enjoy fine food and wine. Christopher's provided that for us.
