The public sculptures of Christopher Trotter are imaginatively created out of metal scraps and discards with some pieces as small as a wing-nut and others as large as a truck. The sculptures can be found as far-flung as Casuarina Beach (NSW) to Footscray (Vic) to Mt Isa (Qld). In Brisbane, though, we have a lot more of Trotter's quirky art in our midst may be due to him being Brisbane-born and currently based in Boonah, 80km south-west of the city. This offers a perfect opportunity for the whole family to go on a hunt for the distinctive sculptures. You can make a day of it on a weekend or during school holidays by walking or cycling around the city fringes and stopping along the river for a picnic lunch.

Around Brisbane city, here are some sculptures to look out for.

Flow (2017) – located outside the Brisbane Jazz Club, 1 Annie Street, Kangaroo Point.



Fish Fossil (1995) – embedded in a concrete wall on the walking path next to Riverlife Adventure Centre, Naval Stores, Kangaroo Point Cliffs Drive, Kangaroo Point.



Bio-mechanical Pelicans (1995) – located on an old pylon in the Brisbane River under the Captain Cook Bridge.



Cormorant – look skyward for this one as it is sitting on the roofline of a building in Fish Lane.



Steam Fish - Fish Lane.



City Roos (1999) – George Street, Brisbane CBD.
Frog's Hollow (2000) – on the passageway wall of Port Office Hotel next to the heritage-listed Smellie's Building, lower end of Edward Street.
