Nothing beats the smell of a fresh Christmas tree
Melbourne Christmas Tree Farm family

Are your kids hassling you to take them to a Christmas tree farm so they can choose a tree in the field for you to take home?

If the answer is yes then I have a great list of Christmas tree farms for you to visit with the children so they can find the perfect Christmas tree.

They offer tree delivery at an extra cost, they sell tree stands priced from $45 and have a decoration shop. Trees start at $55 for a 4-5ft tree and goes up in increments of $5 per foot, with the 7-8ft tree being $70. You can choose your own tree or buy a pre cut tree.

Somerville and Peninsula Christmas Tree Farm is located at 1385 Frankston - Flinders Rd in Somerville and is open 9am- 7pm 7 days a week. They offer Santa sleigh rides and carriage rides. Delivery is available at an extra fee and they also offer tree disposal (once you're finished with your tree you can drop it back to the farm).

Santa's Place is the most well known as they also have a huge Christmas decoration shop with cafe and playground. Santa's Place is all about the experience and they offer tractor rides with carriages to go and select the perfect Christmas tree. Melbourne Christmas Tree Farm (formerly Melton Christmas Tree Farm) is located at 319 Leakes Rd Plumpton. They are open 7 days a week from the 24th of November from 8am-8pm. This Christmas Tree Farm is said to be the biggest in Victoria and if not Australia, so if you can't find one here your in trouble. Prices are reasonable and I was quoted between $40 - $60 for a 6ft tree but all the trees are individually priced in the field so you can choose how much you want to spend.

Dandenong Christmas Tree Farm

Christmas Trees On The Run can take the stress out of finding a tree and delivering freshly cut trees to your home or work place either as a fully decorated Christmas tree that is fully set up by the team and collected again once finished to delivering a tree for you to decorate. If you would prefer to go to one of their four farms to choose your own tree they have them located at Narree Warren, Moorabbin, Drouin and Silvan.

Sunbury Christmas Tree Farm is a family owned and operated business which has been operating for 20 years. The farm is located at 140 - 150 Moore Rd, Sunbury and will be open from the 1st of December from 10am - 7pm 7 days a week. If you're happy to go a bit further out then the Daylesford Christmas Tree Farm is selling trees at a set price of $45 for up to 7ft trees. They are located on Coopers Lane i n Daylesford and are open 9am - 5pm everyday from the 26th of November. Not only are they the cheapest trees but they also look amazing.

Christmas Trees Geelong isn't a farm that you can pick the trees yourself but they offer freshly picked trees at two locations, Geelong and Lara. Trees can be ordered online for pick up or delivery and prices are competitive with the farms. An average sized tree of 6-7ft cost $60 to pick up or you can have it delivered for $10 - $25 extra depending where you live. Trees can be set up in your home for $20 and can also be removed for the same price. Have a look at their website for more details.

My tip is when your visiting the Christmas tree farm you need to remember that the trees seem much smaller in the field than in your house so it's best to know how tall your ceiling is and take a tape measure, just to be on the safe side.

Also, here's a tip to keep your tree green and to stop the needles falling every where.
Obtain a good sturdy 20 litre bucket , place the tree in the bucket and around the tree fill with 20 mm river pebbles ( or similar ) then fill with water. After a day or so check your water level and top as required.

Happy Christmas tree hunting.
