It's the most wonderful time of the year - and Starbucks pulls out all the stops when it comes to celebrating the season of giving and sharing. If you've never experienced a Starbucks Christmas, then you're in for a treat.

is a two-month long affair centred around different themes and features exclusive beverages, merchandise and discounts not available at any other time of the year. Each year celebrates the return of the red cups, red shirts and red aprons. The Starbucks Christmas Blend, a medium-roast that carries festive spice notes that pairs perfectly with classic Christmas flavours, also makes its annual appearance, as well as the annual round of Cheer Parties hosted by every store around Australia.

As a self-proclaimed caffeine addict, I love the Starbucks Christmas Blend, especially in the French Press that lives on my desk at work. This year, there are two additional variations of this blend - all using aged Sumatra beans, but roasted to different degrees. The new Christmas Blonde Roast is a light roast, with a brighter, cleaner flavour than the usual Christmas Blend; the Christmas Espresso Roast is dark and caramelly sweet, for a full spectrum of the roast curve. I've found these coffees go well with Christmas-y flavours like nutmeg, cinnamon, and gingerbread, and works best with afternoon tea and dinner.

My favourite part of is the Christmas beverages: the ever-popular Peppermint Mocha, the surprisingly hit Gingerbread latte (now with Cinnamon Spice cream), and the new favourite Christmas Cookie, which has replaced Toffee Nut in this year's Christmas menu. You can even mix and match different flavours to produce other festive drinks not part of the official Starbucks menu, such as the Candy Cane frappuccino, a combination of peppermint, vanilla and raspberry syrups. There's nothing quite like finding that one perfect concoction that perfectly encapsulates your personal Starbucks experience.

If you're a avid collector of Starbucks merchandise like me, the merch wall is also exciting this time of year. There are some really nice mugs and tumblers available that I have my eye on, including a ceramic pour-over mug-and-filter combo that would fuel even the worst of caffeine addicts. The "Gift of the Week" promotion this year is something new - a different "gift" is offered every week until Christmas, usually centred around whole bean and merchandise - and is definitely worth checking out.

So the next time you spot a Starbucks, why not wander in and try one of the new drinks? Maybe buy a tumbler (or three, in my case) while you're at it. There's really no Christmas like a Starbucks Christmas.
