2022 will mark the year that Christmas pageants are back on the streets of Adelaide since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Let the excitement build as this wonderful tradition continues to delight children and adults alike. You'll be able to enjoy the pageants live once again, so be sure to save these dates on your calendar and not miss out.
The beloved National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant will be returning on Saturday the 12th of November. Commemorating its 90th year, the pageant will depart South Terrace in the city at 9:30am and deliver Father Christmas to the Adelaide Town Hall. You're encouraged to plan ahead and come early as there's bound to be a significant crowd lining the streets on the day. The route map is available from their website.
On Saturday the 26th of November, you and your family are invited to come along to the Playford Community Christmas Pageant at the X Convenience Oval on Goodman Rd in Elizabeth. The street parade will begin at 9am and there'll also be lots of local market stalls, kids' activities, games and entertainment throughout the morning.
Also on the same day (26th) is the Norwood Christmas Pageant which will start from Woods Street and travel to Queen Street. There'll be live bands, clowns, dancers and fairies in addition to the colourful floats. You can download the route map from here. And, as per tradition, children are welcome to decorate the streets using chalk.
Those living on the opposite side of town will be pleased to know that City of Holdfast Bay is presenting a Christmas pageant this November too. Besides enjoying the pageant along Jetty Road in Glenelg, you'll have the opportunity to visit Santa for a photo on Sunday the 27th of November.
The Onkaparinga Christmas Pageant is also returning along Beach Road in Christies Beach on Sunday the 20th of November. You'll need to set yourself up by 10am to watch the procession which is expected to include marching bands and dance groups. Santa will of course be making an appearance as well. The celebration then continues at Rotary Park with rock climbing, lawn games, petting zoo, face painting and market stalls.
In Adelaide Hills, the Mt Barker Christmas Pageant will be celebrating its 40th year on the first Saturday (3rd) in December. Starting from the Recreation Oval at 10:30am, the parade will travel through town and finish on Walker Street. The exact route can be found in this map.
The next day (4th) is Stirling's turn with The Hut Community Centre hosting this year's Christmas pageant. Showcasing their beautiful community, the parade will commence on Druid Avenue and make its way to Stirling Oval from 4pm. A market and fair await at the oval where you can expect live music, sideshows, animal nursery and plenty of stalls.
On the evening of Saturday the 10th of December, our ever-loved Lobethal Pageant will be kickstarting The Lights of Lobethal Festival after three years of absence. The town's main street will come alive with various floats and performers as well as a concert to finish the night.
