Christmas markets are popping up all over Brisbane this festive season. A great alternative to the hustle and bustle of the suburban shopping centres, markets offer the chance to source unique gifts in a fun and relaxed environment. We've rounded up our list of top Christmas market picks below.
Brisbane Etsy Made Local Market
When: Friday 23rd November, 5pm – 9:30pm & Saturday 24th November, 9am - 4pm
Where: Exhibition Building, Brisbane Showgrounds, Bowen Hills
This year across two days, over 150 of Brisbane's most talented designers, makers and crafters will be in the one location at the Brisbane Showgrounds. Jewellery, clothing, toys, paper craft, ceramics, woodworking, upcycled and repurposed items here could prove to be that elusive gift you've been searching for. Together with food trucks, live music and workshops, these markets always hit the mark for a fun Christmas bazaar experience. Entry via gold coin at the door.
Brisbane Fair Trade Christmas Market
When: Saturday 24th November, 8am – 6pm and Sunday 25th November, 8am – 3pm
Where: Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre, Kessels Road, Nathan

Christmas Lane at the Saturday Fresh Market
When: Saturday 15th December & 22nd December, 6am - 12pm
Where: Brisbane Markets, 250 Sherwood Road, Rocklea
The Brisbane Markets at Rocklea have become a staple on the Brisbane market scene for fresh produce, recycled goods and chance bargains on any given weekend. For two special Saturdays in December the markets are expanding with an extra Christmas lane full of festive goodies to help get Christmas sorted. Visit these markets to buy Christmas hams, gifts for loved ones, and even real Christmas trees.
Christmas Market at the Cathedral
When: Saturday 1st December, 2pm – 9pm and Sunday 2nd December, 9am – 3pm
Where: Cathedral of St Stephen, 249 Elizabeth Street, Brisbane

Christmas Festival at Brisbane Powerhouse
When: Friday 30th November, Saturday 1st December, Sunday 2nd December, Friday 7th December, Saturday 8th December, Sunday 9th December, Friday 14th December, Saturday 15th December, Sunday 16th December, 5pm - 9pm
Where: Brisbane Powerhouse, 119 Lamington Street, New Farm
More than just a shopping experience Christmas Festival at the Brisbane Powerhouse will be the place to connect with family and friends this pre-festive season. Enjoy a twilight picnic on the lawn while listening to live music and sipping on a very merry cold beverage. Follow this up with a browse through the market stalls of gourmet provisions, fine handiwork, and festive adornments. Stretching over three weekends means there's plenty of opportunities to head down by the river to revel in the festive fun.
Carseldine Christmas Markets
When: Friday 14th December, 6pm – 10pm
Where: The Old QUT Campus, 523 Beams Road, Carseldine
Well known for their Saturday morning farmers markets, Carseldine Markets are celebrating the festive season with a twilight Christmas market. There'll be all the great things this market regularly delivers including live entertainment, food and drinks, fresh produce, artisan stalls and kids activities, but with a festive twist. An added bonus for families is that this market coincides with the beginning of school holidays so would be the perfect family outing to celebrate summer.
Karuna Christmas Markets
When: Friday 30th November, 1pm - 8pm
Where: Karuna House, 27 Cartwright St, Windsor
Visit the historic grounds of Karuna House for this well-known Brisbane Christmas Market tradition. By supporting this event you'll not only find gifts to give loved ones, you'll be giving the gift of charity by helping to raise much-needed funds to support Karuna's work throughout the year. Handmade Samford Christmas Market
When: Saturday 1st December, 9am – 2pm
Where: The Old Samford Church Hall and Grounds, 130 Samford Road, Samford
If you appreciate the labour of love that goes into the creation of fine handmade wares then this is the market for you. Spend the day in the picturesque semi-rural valley of Samford browsing market stalls and connecting with a community of craftspeople, where locally made is celebrated. Here you'll find beautiful bespoke items for that special someone just in time for Christmas.
Christmas Gift Market
When: Friday 14th December – Sunday 23rd December, 3pm - 10pm
Where: Stanley Street Plaza, South Bank Parklands, South Brisbane
