Twilight markets, foodie delights & all day markets
The City of Ipswich lies forty kilometres west of Brisbane CBD and is situated on the Bremer River. The town began in 1827 as a limestone mining settlement and grew quite quickly as a major inland port. Originally named Limestone Hill and later shortened to Limestone, the town was renamed Ipswich in 1843 after its English namesake.

Today, the City stands alone as Queensland's second-oldest local government with a rich history and is renowned for its architectural and historical buildings with more than six thousand heritage-listed sites. Only a short drive from Brisbane and the Coast, Ipswich is a destination visited by those who wish to enjoy what beauty the City has to offer.

Another thing about Ipswich is that the City offers great markets to visit. If you are looking for ideas for those last-minute gifts or if you are the type of person who leaves looking for presents up to the last moment, then pop along to one of the markets listed below.

Christmas Twilight Market

This Saturday 11th December 2021 at the Ipswich Showgrounds, a special Christmas Twilight Market is being held from 4.00 to 9.00pm. There is nothing quite as exciting as a Twilight Market as the sun goes down and the lights go on. As this Twilight Market leads us into Christmas, the festive spirit will be alive and encouraging everyone to have a fun time. Forget about cooking Saturday's dinner or getting take-out, pop down to the Ipswich Showgrounds with family and friends for a not-so-late evening of joy and possibly a meet up with Santa.

Ripley Markets

The Ripley Markets are held on the second Saturday of each month; with the next market being Saturday 11th December 2021. The market commences at 3.00pm and concludes at 8.00pm, which is not a late-night if you have little ones that need to get to bed.

Although there is plenty to entertain everyone including the family pooch, Ripley Markets' main focus is on food. There is an ever-rotating band of food trucks providing everything from Karaage chicken, Japanese hotdogs and hot wings, healthy Mexican favourites to irresistible sweet treats like pancakes and delicious Dutch Poffertjes to finish off your dinner delights.

After dinner, you can meander around the crafts, homewares, clothing and art stall in the relaxed atmosphere, known as Ripley Markets. The Ripley Markets are nestled in the heart of the Ripley Valley, 6 Amity Way, South Ripley, near Ipswich.

Ipswich Showplace Markets

Sunday Markets are a tradition where couples and families stroll the stalls with their beloved fur-buddies, enjoy breakfast and other eats and browse the many stalls where you can purchase fresh produce, handmade gifts and other merchandise.

Plus, there is an entire section dedicated to second-hand and collectable treasures.

Entry is a gold coin, however, if you are feeling unwell, please stay at home. No one wants to feel unwell during the festive season.
