This close to Christmas, Melbournian families have ticked most festive tasks off their holiday to-do lists.Whether it be a snapshot with Santa, wrapping presses or decking halls and trees with boughs of holly and glistening tinsel - there's one thing which often gets left 'till last minute, and that's where a little street named Laane comes into play.Going on 7 years this ordinary avenue in the city of Banyule lights up for the month leading up to Christmas and into the new year.Displays range from demure & dapper to the boldest & brightest of spectacles, with each house's festive send-up as unique as its owner. While more well-known displays such as The Boulevard in Ivanhoe or Montmorency's Airlie Road bring in the big crowds, there's something to be said for smaller street shows like Rosanna's Laane Avenue.Here you can escape the foot & road traffic, park your car and enjoy a leisurely stroll through the atmosphere and fresh air filled with Christmas Spirit at its best.
