In time for Christmas, the whole town of Cooroy comes alive with festivities, enticing visitors from far and wide to participate in a whole weekend of Christmas merrymaking and entertainment. Christmas in Cooroy is a FREE community event, hosted by the Cooroy Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Cooroy with generous support from sponsors and volunteers.
Christmas in Cooroy is usually held on the first weekend of December and this year, 2018, will be the 14th year of Christmas in Cooroy - can you believe that!

🎄 Lighting the Studio Steel Christmas Tree Friday 30 November 6.45pm - 7.30pm Maple Street, Cooroy FREE Event
First and foremost the Christmas in Cooroy celebrations kick off with the Carols and the 'Lighting the Studio Steel Christmas Tree', outside Cooroy RSL from 6.45pm on Friday 30 November. Rumour has it that the Cooroy Christmas Tree - sponsored by Studio Steel - is the biggest and brightest on the whole of the Sunshine Coast. Make your way to Maple Street in Cooroy, join in the carol singing and take a stroll along the Shop Window Trail, with twenty shops having Christmas window displays. Word on the street is that these displays will delight the young and the not-so-young.
Keep an eye out on the weather, we could have flurries of snow with the lighting of the tree.

The fun continues on the Cooroy Library Rooftop Cinema with a Christmas movie and this year Polar Express is showing (G).

Apex Park, Cooroy
The main Christmas in Cooroy events on Saturday afternoon start from 4.00pm, in and around Apex Park, which is opposite the library. It's time to get your tinsel in a-titter with excitement - here's the very inspiring Christmas in Cooroy programme of festivities.
The Cooroy Rag very generously sponsors the FREE rides on the lawned area opposite the Cooroy Library. Kids of all ages will find something to have fun on, whether it's the Bouncy Castles, the Big Slide or the more gentle T-Cup Roundabout.
Sponsored by John Madill Toyota is the fabulous Animal Farm Petting Zoo - we all know how much the kids love to cuddle the animals.
Very talented face painters/body art artists will be available, courtesy of SPV Accounting, to give you and your children a total makeover. How about becoming your favourite super hero for the day or for the more conservative ... having a temporary tattoo design.
For the very first time in 2018, Christmas in Cooroy are having the Great Santa Stroll, with the aim of getting a whole sea of Santas to follow the Street Parade, creating a wonderfully festive experience for everybody to enjoy and admire. If you are keen on being involved in the Great Santa Stroll, please follow the link here. It's FREE to enter, too! The first fifty to register will get a Santa suit for keeps! Please ensure all Santas are at the Lower Mill Site on Lower Mill Road by 3.30pm.
Straight after the Street Parade, is the annual Cooroy Tuggers - East vs West Tug of War, which is jointly sponsored by The Shed at Cooroy and Cooroy Computers - and it's all happening in Apex Park. Make sure you come ready and prepared, you might just get 'roped in'.
Santa will arrive bearing gifts and be available for photos too
Thanks to Gelignite Jacks, Cooroy have their very own Santa who will be surprising the children with an early visit and gifts. Make sure you're there to say 'hello' to Santa in Apex Park - a perfect time to sneak a family photo in too.
Cooroy SUPA IGA are the very generous sponsors for the live entertainment, which includes everything from carol singing to great covers from local bands. Rock the night away until 10.00pm with great sounds from Pineapple Crush and Smokin' Mirrors.

Cooroy night sky will be bedazzled with a spectacular fireworks display - thanks to Club Cooroy RSL - legend has it that this display is the envy of many other celebrations on the coast, so make sure you don't miss it!
