NSW offers a number of great destinations to enjoy the Christmas holidays. Here is a list of some of the best locations to explore this holiday season.

Kangaroo Valley
Escape for the holidays and breathe in the fresh country air of Kangaroo Valley. A hidden gem with rainforest greens, mountains, lush valleys and a pristine river, Kangaroo Valley offers a number of attractions ideal for families. Go canoeing down the Kangaroo River, explore the region on horseback, indulge at a local vineyard or explore the nearby cities of Bowral and Berry.

Lake Macquarie
The Lake Macquarie area is a great location for an action and adventure holiday. The largest coastal saltwater lake in Australia, Lake Macquarie provides a wealth of opportunity for a wide range of activities such as snorkelling, diving and swimming. The nearby Watagan Mountains National Park is a great location to enjoy bushwalking, horse-riding or cycling.

Port Stephens
Port Stephens is an ideal beach holiday location with a wide range of things to do. The area is home to over 26 sandy beaches, as well as sheltered bay beaches that are great for an array of activities such as sand dune adventures, snorkeling and surfing. A regular hotspot for a number of Bottlenose dolphins, be sure to head out on to the waters in a kayak or on a tour for the chance to interact with the ocean's most playful mammals. Avid surfers can't miss One Mile Beach, Box Beach and Fingal Spit.

Newcastle
The bustling coastal cosmopolitan Newcastle is a great holiday destination and was dubbed as Australia's most underrated city by the Lonely Planet. The second oldest city in Australia is home to a number of pristine beaches and surfing hotspots, historic attractions, and a booming food and wine scene. Take a leisurely coastal stroll on one of the many walks or have a dip in one of the ocean baths. For a holiday that offers something for everyone, Newcastle offers the perfect mix of city and coastal town.

Byron Bay
The colourful town of Byron Bay has long been a favourite holiday destination in the summer season. Famed for its laid-back vibe and surf culture, Byron also provides an ideal mix of beaches, culture and art. Enjoy the town's weekly community markets, explore the nearby national parks or just stretch out on the sand and relax.

With so many fantastic holiday destinations, there has never been a better time to fly to NSW and immerse yourself in Christmas cheer.
