It's crazy, it's busy, it's expensive: It's Christmas. It comes around every year, and gets more and more crazy, however this year there is the perfect solution: The Handmade Christmas Bazaar – put on by a Flinders Street Market in collaboration with Etsy.com, on the 6 & 7th December in the big blue shed @ 230 Flinders Street in Adelaide.

It's the perfect solution and gorgeous day out, where you can support local, buy; sustainable, unique, affordable and yet delightful items all made with a great amount of love and joy. One of the things I personally like the most when buying hand-made (other than the fact I know I'll be the only person with that unique item) is that you are buying it from someone, who has a story of how they made it, where the idea came from, you can have a chat to them, find out a little more about them if you wish, it turns a run-of the mill store experience into a really good day out and you have a special gift with a story to give on.

Now on top of this, the coffee is great, there are yummy treats galore – especially stop in and try some of the delicious homemade chocolate from the Coco Stop , both the falafels and lunches from the Lunch lady are divine (I usually do a falafel while there and then take home a salad for dinner – that way it's a win-win).

I'll usually have a good look through all the treasures at the bric n'brac & vintage stands, where you'll find some amazing bargains. There is never anything that the Fabulous scavenge r doesn't have that I don't feel like buying. Juanita Tortilla' s delicately made to perfection bags are also a huge temptation, as are the totes, purses and pillow of Wonderwhatyouwere , the colourful modern crochet from Minnie Crochet is a winner. Stop by and pick up some healing comfrey ointments from Soulsong Avalon who also has a d selection of shabby chic bags and home-wares. Pretty by Pip has the most stunning make up, where you can stop by and get a makeover or even stop and get a massage if all the shopping is wearing you out. And would also suggest a gander at the sunshine van , which has super inspiring collection of gifts by local artists. Just too many choices, there are natural soaps, candles, prints, cards, vintage clothes and a wide array of jewellery. You'll be spoilt for choice, and wonder how you ever managed to buy so much, and spend so little – and you'll be even happier at the even more happy friends and family who are the recipients of your gift.

Yes, even if you are not gift buying, come past and check it out, it's sure to be a winner. And look forward to seeing you there.
