Offer the gift of giving by donating non-perishable food items to help those in need as part of the Brisbane City Council's Christmas Goodwill Appeal.
As part of the Appeal, food donations can be made at any of Brisbane's 33 libraries across the city.
From 1 until 31 December 2020, the libraries will be accepting:
• Dry packet pasta
• Dry packet rice
• Tinned baked beans and
• Tinned spaghetti
Check out the Council libraries website here to find a site near you.
All donations will be forwarded to Foodbank Queensland , Australia's largest food relief organisation. The Christmas food run has been an annual event in Brisbane over many years.
In a year of COVID 19, there has been a rising demand for food relief. While dealing with the economic and health impacts of the pandemic, many Australians have faced additional hardship to secure food for themselves and their families. Foodbank has reported a 20-25% increased in demand.
So when returning a library book or deciding on a new one, be sure to bring along an item of food to help make Christmas a little easier for those in need.
