Christmas goes off with bang at South Bank
Brisbaneites have a seemingly insatiable appetite for fireworks. From Riverfire to New Year's Eve we just can't get enough of them. Add in a bit of Christmas cheer and festive spirit and we'll be there in droves. And since South Bank is Brisbane's favourite place for fireworks that's where families from all across Brisbane will be congregating and oohing and aaahing with delight for this year's Christmas Fireworks Spectacular.
For five colourful, lively and noisy nights the skies above South Bank will bring Christmas alive. The fireworks display will run for 10 minutes every evening from 8.15 to 8.25 pm from Thursday 17 December to Monday 21 December. The Clem Jones Promenade at the Parklands will be the ideal viewing spot, but as with all South Bank fireworks displays, the spectacular sight will be visible from anywhere along the South Brisbane reach of the river and other vantage points like Victoria Bridge, Kangaroo Point Cliffs, Captain Burke Park, Wilson's Lookout, and City Riverwalk, including the Riverside Centre and Eagle Street Pier.
As a special treat this year families can take advantage of a special deal to see the action from way up high aboard The Wheel of Brisbane. For the five nights of fireworks children under 12 can ride free with a paying adult between 6pm and 9.30pm, with a maximum of 3 children per paying adult.
This is free family fun so expect plenty of excited people to contribute to the atmosphere. It's best to arrive early to get a great vantage point and just after 8pm the skies will become the backdrop for all the family fun.
