Christmas is fast approaching and there is always so much to do - for us humans. We need to start Christmas shopping, go out to
Christmas work parties , visit Santa for a
photo , organise
Christmas lunch , go to Christmas
carols and join in on festive
celebrations around the community. If you have a dog at home however, they are watching you come and go and wondering what on earth is going on!
"Where are the crazy humans going?" they think to themselves,
"Why can't I go too?"
Well they can, at the following doggie events around the city this Christmas. There may be just a few, but they are popular - so attach some tinsel to your dog's collar and get them looking their doggie best for their special outing or photography session. This is their time to shine and be part of the family celebrations. I can almost guarantee they will be in the car in a flash and looking as happy as this one!
EVENTS
Saturday, 2nd December
Mollie and Tannin's Canine Christmas Party has become an annual Christmas event at Murrumbateman Winery in the Canberra Wine District. Take the 30 minute scenic drive north of Canberra with your pooch and have a day of Christmas celebration with other dog-lovers from around the region. Mollie and Tannin, the resident pets at the winery, were rescue dogs and want to give back this Christmas. They have organised a Wishing Bone in the Cellar Door and are hoping to get enough dog toys donated so that every dog and puppy at the ACT RSPCA can get a Christmas present this year. This event runs between 10am - 5pm, with some wine tasting for the humans! See
here for details.
Sunday, 3rd December
12 Barks of Christmas Carols is a highlight of the Canberra events calendar, organised by the RSPCA Canberra. This year it will be taking place in the shady Glebe Park, in the middle of the city. This popular event will have Christmas carols, doggie market stalls, food, drink, live music, Santa Paws Photobooth, dog activities, giving tree and much more! Dogs and their humans are encouraged to get dressed up in Christmas attire, with prizes to win on the evening. Tickets cost between $13 (children) to $25 (adults) with all proceeds going to the RSPCA. This event begins at 4pm and runs until 7pm. See
here for details.
* Does your dog have a talent? There is a casting call on 18th November for dogs with a talent to perform on the stage at the event - see here for details. Six lucky doggies will be chosen!
