Forget the cooking & the washing up
Do you want to get out the house on Christmas Day and celebrate with others? Do you want to leave the cooking and washing up to someone else this year? Then why not book a table at one of these venues, listed below, and sit back, relax and enjoy the day!
This year has been a strange one for all of us, with COVID-19 changing the way we live. At the time of writing in October, Christmas Day lunch events will still be on around Canberra, with Marble & Grain already sold out for their event and other venues are filling up fast. Some venues have chosen not to have a Christmas lunch event this year just in case the restrictions change, such as The Boat House in Barton, which is completely understandable. These venues below, however, are taking bookings now - so get in early before they all book out!
Canberra Southern Cross Clubs will all be open on Christmas Day, with a variety of options to suit all ages. Woden, Tuggeranong and Jamison clubs will have a festive three-course menu at a cost of $110 adult/ $60 child under 12. The Yacht Club at Yarralumla will have a four-course lunch by Lake Burley Griffin at a cost of $160 adult/ $70 child under 12. Take your appetite! See here for details.
Hyatt Canberra will be having three options this Christmas Day. There will be a Festive Sharing Set Lunch at Promenade Café, inclusive of a 2-hour beverage package, at a cost of $290 adults/ $240 children. There will also be a Festive Afternoon Tea Stand at the Tea Lounge, for $120 adults/ $80 children. Lastly, there will be a Festive Sharing Set Dinner at Promenade Café, inclusive of a 2-hour beverage package, at a cost of $220 adults/ $170 children. See here for details.
Gungahlin Lakes Club & Ainslie Football Club, both owned by the Ainslie Group, will both be hosting a three-course Christmas lunch with a complimentary drink on arrival. The cost is Member $85/ Non-Member $95/ Kids: $25. See here for details.
Pavilion on Northbourne Hotel will be hosting a 3 course buffet lunch with a 2 hour beverage package at a cost of $169 per adult/ $95 per person (13-17 years)/ $50 per person (6-12 years)/ $20 per person (3-5 years) and children aged 2 years and under are free. See the sample menu below, to make you salivate! See here for details.
If you can't get into any of these venues, or find another event not listed here, then why not meet friends and family for a picnic Christmas lunch at your favourite park? Or pick up some seafood on Christmas Eve and cook it up on one of the free BBQs around Canberra's lakes? Or stay at home and have a cold Christmas lunch right in front of the air-con? (Christmas Day is usually a scorcher in Canberra, so that last option sounds good to me!)
Wherever you decide to spend your day, Merry Christmas Canberra! 🎄🎄
