Christmas Carols In Geelong 2015
There are two major Christmas Carols events this year.
The Denis Walter Carols by the Bay is held on December 5th 2015. It is hosted by Denis Walter. You can sing along to your favourite Christmas hymns and carols.
This year come along and listen to Denis Walter, one of Australia's finest singers as he brings together an array of guest performers, from around Australia and locally. Listen as the old classic carols are performed and be entertained by some of the newer pop Christmas songs.
Held on the grassy lawns of Eastern Beach, there is always a huge crowd who all come along to join in the night of entertainment, fun and songs. Many people get to the event early and set up picnics and blankets and get into the mood for a wonderful night with their own patch of lawn reserved for the night.
This event has been happening in Geelong since 1997. A highlight of the evening is an appearance by Santa and his friends. Everyone's favourite loveable bear - Humphrey B Bear might make an appearance.
Be sure to stay til the end. The night ends with a fireworks display, reflecting over the bay, in a spectacular finale to the night.
Denis Walter Carols by the Bay is proudly supported by the City of Greater Geelong.
Geelong Carols by Candlelight December 24th
The Geelong Carols have been going for as long as I can remember. I used to go there with my parents when I was a little girl. I have taken all my children to Geelong Carols, and I've even taken my granddaughter. Geelong Carols by Candlelight is always held on Christmas Eve. It is a great way to lead in to Christmas Day.
This is also a family night. You can bring your own candles or buy them at any of the entrances to Johnstone Park. Programs are also available at the entrances. People bring blankets, candles, food and drinks, seats, and of course - children.
Geeong Carols by Candlelight is held in the natural ampitheatre of Johnstone Park. Usually the choirs and performers appear on a wooden stage set up in front of the rotunda, in the middle of Johnstone Park. The program features traditional carols. Some of Geelong's best artists and choirs perform, as well as the concert band.
Geelong Carols by Candlelight is also proudly supported by the City of Greater Geelong.
