Saturday 28th November Frankston's Christmas Festival of Lights. This ever growing Christmas celebration is the highlight of many local families Christmas calendar. Live stage shows, open air performances, carols by candlelight, arts and crafts, carnival rides, market stalls, glow in the dark toys, SANTA and, of course, the momentous lighting of the 100 year old Norfolk Pink Christmas Tree.
This street party starts at 5pm and concludes with fireworks starting at 9.45pm. Entry: FREE. Location: Davey Street, Frankston.
Wear comfy shoes as you'll need to park some distance away - and take note of street closures around the event.
Sunday 6th December McCrae Lighthouse Christmas Lights Splash of Colour. Hosted by the Lions Club, the McCrae Lighthouse is going to come alive in an abundance of Christmas colour. The event runs between 7.30pm-9.30pm with the lighthouse being illuminated at 8.30pm. Light refreshments will be available. Entry: FREE. Location: McCrae Lighthouse, Nepean Hwy, McCrae.
Thursday 10th December Carols on the Green, Mt Eliza. Professional and local choirs will take you on a guided musical Christmas journey during this family friendly event. Running between 6pm-8.30pm, guests are encouraged to bring a picnic, rug and chairs. Entry: FREE. Location: Village Green Mount Eliza, Cnr Mount Eliza Way & Canadian Bay Road, Mt Eliza.
Saturday 12th December Christmas Twilight Festival at Mulberry Hill. Tour this lovely historical property, participate in art and craft activities along with other activities designed especially for children, listen to Melbourne Guitar Foundation Scholarship winner in concert and view the "launch of Return to Hanging Rock: an exhibition celebrating 40 years of Picnic at Hanging Rock." Food and drink will be available to purchase. There are also plenty of nice spots to throw down a rug. Entry: FREE. Parking: $5. Guided tour and concert ticket fees apply. Saturday 12th December Carols on the Hill (Red Hill). Children can take part in the nativity re-enactment while parents join in community singing at the Red Hill Recreation Reserve. The event runs between 5.00pm-7.30pm and promises an evening of family entertainment. Entry: FREE. Location: Art & Crafts Pavilion, Red Hill Recreation Reserve, 184 Arthurs Seat Road, Red Hill.
Saturday 12th December Somerville Carols by Candlelight. Bands, local choir & schools will be performing at this popular Christmas event organised by the 'troop at the Somerville Fire Brigade.' Candles can be purchased on the night for $2 each and there will be sausage sizzle, ice creams and coffee van. Guests are encouraged to bring a chair and picnic rug to set up camp. This event opens at 6pm for a 6.30pm start and will run until 8pm. Entry: FREE. Location: Somerville Fruit Growers Reserve, Station Street, Somerville.
Friday 18th December Carols by Candlelight – Rosebud Village Green. The Southern Peninsula Concert Band, the Southern Peninsula Ukulele Band and a guest singer will be leading the carols at Rosebud Village Green this year. Entertainment also includes a re-enactment of the Nativity, and courtesy of the SES Santa will be making an appearance, too. This event runs between 7.30pm-9.30pm. Entry: FREE. Saturday 19th December Lyrebird Community Christmas Festival and Carols. Lots of fun, affordable family friendly activities including face painting, rides and amusements, craft activities, food, live music and entertainment, carols and FIREWORKS! This event runs between 5pm-9.45pm. Entry: FREE. Location: Carrum Downs Recreation Reserve, Wedge Road, Carrum Downs.
Friday 25th December City Life Christmas Lunch. Open to anyone who is alone or facing hardship this Christmas, lunch is being provided at two venues from 12 noon and will include music and singing, jumping castle, face painting and gifts for all. Entry: FREE. Locations: Clyde Street Mall, Frankston (outside City Life Café) and North Frankston Community Centre, Mahogany Avenue. Guests MUST REGISTER to obtain a ticket, available from 1st December.
