Once again the City of Fremantle is holding these very popular CHRISTMAS CAROLS at South Beach (for the second year in a row). This is being done as the previous venue did not accommodate enough people, and the City does not want to turn down people.
This year the CHRISTMAS CAROLS will be held on Sunday 17th December from 7 pm, and they have been scheduled at this time so that there is still time for a swim in this great beach as well as to enjoy the sun setting in the West during the Carols. People come from all over Australia to see these wonderful sunsets, and here, we have them all through summer!
Appearing to sing the CHRISTMAS CAROLS are one of WA's favourite jazz singers, Libby Hammer and the Arcadian Voices, who will lead the crowd through a singalong spectacular of your favourite carols.
ABOUT SOUTH BEACH South Beach is located in Fremantle's inner harbour, close to the centre of Fremantle. It is a family-friendly beach which has superb views of Rottnest, Carnac, and Garden Islands, and is the perfect place to enjoy a swim, a picnic or BBQ.
There is also a beachside cafe should you want to get a bite to eat before or after the CHRISTMAS CAROLS where you can have a meal or just a coffee or cold drink.
The function will be held on the lawn area, north from the Cafe, near the boundary of the "no dogs" beach, on Ocean Drive, South Fremantle (the end where Marine Terrace meets Duoro Road) and there will also be roving entertainment.
You can arrive any time of the day to get a good spot and have an enjoyable day at the beach also. You can bring a picnic and there will also be some food vans onsite, as well as the South Beach Cafe, mentioned above, who will be staying open. The food vans will be opening at around 6.00 pm.
You can also bring prams, camping chairs, bean bags and there will be set areas for chairs and bags. In case you want to come down with the family on bikes, there will also be designated areas to park your bikes and this will be along the railway fence line.
Parking will be free but is limited, so it is suggested that you make the most of the free CAT buses which will be running late into the evening to cater to this Function. You will also be able to buy candles at the event, and it is an alcohol-free Event, so PLEASE no alcohol.
There will be programmes provided so that you have the words to all the CHRISTMAS CAROLS and will be able to sing along!
For your convenience, there will also be an accessible viewing area for wheelchair access and for family/friends of those in wheelchairs.
You are able to bring your dogs along, however, you will have to enjoy the atmosphere from either the South Fremantle Dog Beach (behind the stage) or North Coogee Dog Beach, south of the Event.

The traditional switching on, by the Mayor, of the beautiful Christmas tree lights at Kings Square will also be on in Fremantle and the summer in Fremantle will be full of festivals and events, including the free Sunday courtyard concerts at the Arts Centre from late October.
