Get into the spirit - the Christmas Spirit
The annual family event, Christmas by Starlight, so very popular with generations of residents of Brisbane's Redland City, is happening again on Saturday the 15th of December. Mark it in your diary now.
This FREE event, presented by the Redland City Council, will be held at the Redlands Showgrounds in Cleveland on the corner of Long and Smith Streets.
Gates open at 3pm, so pack the picnic rug for a relaxed evening under the setting sun. This is an alcohol-free event reiterating the great family atmosphere.
John Foreman, OAM, has musically directed this program which will feature a variety of talent including Casey Donovan, Luke Antony, Emma Pask and many more. Many of own home-grown entertainers will also be performing such as Scott Muller, Yule Burri Dancers, Redland City Bands, and Rockit Productions. It's an extensive program suitable for all ages.
There will be rides for the kiddies, all free until 8pm, as well as face painting. The main event will beam across the showgrounds from 6pm, with a spectacular fireworks finale to light up the sky from about 8.15pm.
A variety of food trucks will be on site as well as merchandise stalls. The Starlight Express, a trackless train that will shuttle guests around the event, also promises to be good fun and there is also free access to Santa's workshop at the Redland Museum. Does this sound fun or what!
Free event parking will be available off Long Street, Cleveland or check out some other parking areas close by. Changed traffic conditions will be in place so please allow extra time.
