While life is about relationships, we tend to neglect even the most important of these throughout busy periods of the year. Christmas is a time when we can wind down and spend time with loved ones.

Celebrating at Capalaba Park on 6 December is the perfect way to start.

The great thing about this festival (apart from free entry) is that it has something to offer people of all ages. This said, it is an alcohol-free event. But that means you can enjoy quality family time in a safe, child-friendly environment.

The festival kicks off at 4pm, with a special show for the kids at 5.45pm. Throughout the afternoon there will be many free and fun activities like rock climbing, face painting and an animal zoo.

Santa will be there all the way from the North Pole, keen to hear what your kids – and you, of course – want for Christmas. Make sure your partner is around to hear your requests.

And what would a festival like this be without local food and drinks, and gifts to surprise your husband, wife or friends with on Christmas Day? Let us not forget the Christmas carols that this festive season its flare! The following Australian power voices will be at this year: tenor Luke Kennedy, winner of The Voice Australia; cabaret star Naomi Price; and winner of The Voice Kids Australia, Alexa Curtis.

No festival is complete without great hosts. This year, keeping the stage warm will be local talents Jal Joshua from X-Factor Australia 2014 and 18-year-old country singer from Cleveland Kiara Rodrigues. Jal and Kiara will have the Redland Sinfonia Orchestra up with them on stage.

So make your way to Capalaba Park for some early Christmas cheer on 6 December 2014.

is an annual event, but don't wait until next year – Be a sport and take the family out for some early Christmas cheer!

Don't be the Grinch, but like the Whos who like Christmas a lot. If you do know the beloved Children's tale by Dr Seuss, you will know of the green fellow that tries to steal Christmas from the Whos in the town below Mount Crumpet. Anyway, they wake up to find all their trees and presents gone, but discover the value of family at Christmas. Awww!
