Xmas carols and a family movie at the Walter Nash Centre
While many of the main centres had their usual Christmas parades and some their Christmas in the Park entertainment in the last couple of weeks, our small city, Lower Hutt, in the Hutt Valley had a series of pop-up carol singing events across the city. The finale will be held in the brand-spanking new Walter Nash Centre on Christmas Eve this coming Thursday.
Mayor Ray Wallace stated a few weeks ago the Taita Christmas Eve celebration had replaced the usual celebrations in the central Hutt for 2015, but will return as traditionally held in 2016. But the popular parades in the Stokes Valley and Wainuiomata suburbs continued as usual.
Mayor Wallace stated council had word that Santa, the old gentleman in the red suit, would call in on his way to hitting the skies later in the evening. Parents would have earmarked this one in their diaries.
Christmas at the Movies, will be held at the Walter Nash Centre on Thursday 24 December from 3-30pm - 8-30pm. No restrictions or admission fees. From 3-30pm there will be activities for kids of all ages, circus workshops and bouncy castles. Kids under 12 will be able to get their photo with Santa and a gift to take home. Parents can bring a picnic, and a sing-song with Christmas carols will be held from 5pm.
