Make sure you do not miss this German market and food
The word Christkindlmarkt literally means a Christ child market and is a street market in celebration of the coming Christmas on the four weeks of Advent. Although these markets originated in Germany, they are now held in many places around the world.
And what better place to hold this than Hahndorf, which is classified as Australia's oldest surviving German settlement. Each year, many thousands of people of all ages go to this charming village. And what better place to hold a Christkindlmarkt than Hahndorf, with this event now in its sixth year!
This European style Christmas market is organised and run by C3 Church Adelaide Hills. It will be a fabulous fun event for the whole family where you can spend quality time together. This is exactly what happens in the many cities in Europe over the Christmas period, but of course, this one will be in a warm Aussie setting, with no snow or wood fires about! You will be able to sip on your Gluhwein while you wander about the stalls, and eat delicious German-inspired food. There will be displays of handicrafts, baked goods, artwork and gifts.
With over 50 stalls, entertainment, food and much more, it's going to be a fabulous weekend filled with entertainment and Christmas spirit. Make sure you don't miss out - and bring the family and/or friends to get a bit of European culture.
Hahndorf Christkindlmarkt is a licensed event with a designated licensed area - You cannot bring alcohol onto the premises.
Hahndorf Christkindlmarkt is strictly a drug and smoke-free event and this includes e-cigarettes.
Hahndorf Christkindlmarkt does not allow pets to the event.
