Make sure you do not miss this German market and food
The word Christkindlmarkt literally means a Christ child market and is a street market in celebration of the coming Christmas on the four weeks of Advent. Although these markets originated in Germany, they are now held in many places around the world.

And what better place to hold this than Hahndorf, which is classified as Australia's oldest surviving German settlement. Each year, many thousands of people of all ages go to this charming village. And what better place to hold a Christkindlmarkt than Hahndorf, with this event now in its sixth year!

Dates and Times
Friday 14th December, from 4.00 pm to 10.00 pm
Saturday 15th December, from 4.00 pm to 10.00 pm
Sunday 16th December, from 4.00 pm to 10.00 pm

They will be held around the southern end and in the area around the corner of Main Street and Auricht Road, Hahndorf.

This European style Christmas market is organised and run by C3 Church Adelaide Hills. It will be a fabulous fun event for the whole family where you can spend quality time together. This is exactly what happens in the many cities in Europe over the Christmas period, but of course, this one will be in a warm Aussie setting, with no snow or wood fires about! You will be able to sip on your Gluhwein while you wander about the stalls, and eat delicious German-inspired food. There will be displays of handicrafts, baked goods, artwork and gifts.

With over 50 stalls, entertainment, food and much more, it's going to be a fabulous weekend filled with entertainment and Christmas spirit. Make sure you don't miss out - and bring the family and/or friends to get a bit of European culture.

Event Information
Hahndorf Christkindlmarkt is a licensed event with a designated licensed area - You cannot bring alcohol onto the premises.

Carols by Candlelight
The C3 Church Band will be back again for carols by candlelight. This team is made up of talented volunteers who form part of the C3 Church Adelaide Hills Worship Team.

More about Hahndorf
The historic town of Hahndorf is situated about 28 kilometres south-east of Adelaide. The areas original inhabitants dating back 2400 years, were the Peramangk Aboriginal people.

Hahndorf was zoned as a state heritage area in 1988 by the Government of South Australia. It was also acknowledged as Australia's oldest surviving German settlement.

Since then, it has grown in popularity and is visited by many thousands of locals and tourists alike. It is a casual, popular place where you can still buy European/German authentic goods.

Last year, this event was nominated for the Regional Showcase People's Choice Award. They were in the top 15 finalists for this award and you can read about it by clicking on this link.

The detailed program for this year's Christkindlmarkt will be announced soon at this link.
