Are you looking for an English-speaking Christian church in Bali? Although Bali is a Hindu island in a predominantly Muslim nation, there is an active Christian community and plenty of churches to choose from, whether you're making a one-off visit or looking to join a church in Bali longer term.
Here is a selection of active English-speaking churches in the south of Bali where you will receive a warm welcome. Check their websites for exact locations and more details of events and activities happening throughout the week.
Kingdomcity Bali
Part of an expanding international church,
Kingdomcity Bali has a vibrant, Spirit-filled atmosphere that is welcoming to everyone.
Kingdomcity attracts a mixture of English-speaking Indonesians, expats, and visiting tourists. Connect groups and other mid-week events offer the chance to fellowship in a more intimate setting, too.
Meeting in the ballroom of 100 Sunset Hotel on Sunset Road, this church is easily accessible from Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Jimbaran, Sanur and beyond.
Kingdomcity Bali's English worship service begins at 11am. There is also a 3pm youth service (in English) and a 6pm Indonesian service.
C3 Church
C3 Global is a family of over 500 churches in 64 countries, and you'll find three of them in Bali.
C3 Renon is located in west Denpasar and has a strong focus on family and reaching out to the local community. Pastor Gayle Dwije has been ministering in Bali for over 25 years and leads a bilingual worship service at the church every Sunday at 9am.
C3 The Bukit , located in Bali's southern peninsula, serves the local community in Jimbaran, Nusa Dua, and surrounding areas. Join the bilingual Sunday service at 10am each week.
C3 North Kuta also has a bilingual service at 10am each Sunday. The location is easily accessible from Seminyak and Kerobokan.
Kuta International Christian Church (KICC)
Located in the heart of Kuta,
KICC is a popular church for visiting tourists as well as having a regular congregation of many nationalities.
This is a sister church of the Indonesian Protestant Churches in Bali (GKPB) and was one of the first English-speaking worship services on the island. Their weekly Sunday service begins at 11am.
New Tribe Bali
Formerly ICC, this
community-focused church has plenty of opportunities to connect throughout the week, and you can join the English worship service at 11am each Sunday (an Indonesian service is held at 8.30).
Visit them at International Conference Centre Bali, located in Mal Bali Galeria just outside of central Kuta.
Gateway Community Church
Gateway Bali recently celebrated its 40th anniversary, having started in 1979 as English Worship Service - the first English-speaking church in Bali.
Join the 10am Sunday service in Sanur for a low-key but intimate time of worship and learning. In-ear translation is available for Indonesian visitors and members.
Hillsong
Hillsong , a name famous throughout the world for its worship songs, came to Bali in 2017 and now has services in two locations.
At their purpose-built location on Sunset Road, you can join at 9.30am, 11.30am, 4pm or 6pm, and in Denpasar, there's one service at 10.30am.
The service is run in Indonesian with English in-ear translation available.
GBI Rock Kuta
Rock Kuta has a large Indonesian congregation with six Sunday services held in Indonesian. The English-speaking service is at 11.30am, and there is also one in Mandarin at 9.30.
The location just off Sunset Road makes it easy to reach from South Denpasar, Kuta, Legian and Seminyak.
Note that while these Bali churches are all protestant rather than Catholic, most consider themselves non-denominational and they are welcoming to people of all backgrounds.
