Great street food without the street
The Chow House, a haven for lovers of Asian street food, is located on James Street in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley. With a regularly changing menu based around fresh, seasonal ingredients, Chow House is a restaurant to return to over and over again. You can experience their diverse range of dishes for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week, or for dinner from Tuesdays to Saturdays.
The bao and pot stickers at Chow House
We visited Chow House for dinner on a busy Saturday night, but despite the crowds, the service was particularly good. The menu is extensive, ranging from curry and noodles dishes, to their famous "Street Chow" (an amazing range of Asian style Tapas). The Peking duck with shallot pancake was delicious, followed by a great satay chicken, vegetable and pork bao, and chicken pot stickers. Unfortunately, we had to forgo the dessert menu which was extensive.
They have a great range of wine, cocktails, beer and spirits from various parts of the world. By sharing a bottle of wine and choosing the street chow option, we ended up having a very affordable dinner. It is also worth noting that they do hold functions and with a great atmosphere, it's worth thinking about.

If you are thinking of giving it a try, Chow House is located at 39 James Street, Fortitude Valley. For reservations (definitely recommended) call (07) 3852 5155. James Street is never far from a bus stop or the train station, and there are numerous carparks in the area (if you book in advance it is usually cheaper).
