Step inside the newly re-opened Gap Markets and you'll find a little treat - Choppit - the newest spot in The Gap to grab something to eat and/or drink. Being located in The Gap Markets means that fresh produce is literally on Choppit's doorstep, making you the winner with great tasting fresh food and drinks on offer daily. Customers are invited to get creative and design their own juice, salad or smoothie.
Whether you're looking for a coffee, a treat, lunch or a juice boost, you'll find something fresh and tempting here. I indulged in a macchiato which was a new experience for me. The young barista patiently explained exactly what a macchiato was and I enjoyed trying something new. Along with my coffee, I over-indulged in a white Lindt chocolate rocky road slice! Yes, it was very sweet but when shared with a friend, didn't seem quite so wicked! You don't, however, have to be naughty as healthy choices also abound, with frozen yoghurts, salads, wraps, smoothies and fresh juices all on the menu. Choppit was doing a roaring trade when I visited but the service was quick and very friendly.
There is some seating at the front of the markets, however I chose to sit inside, where several tables and chairs allow you to sit, sip and survey shelf upon shelf of interesting looking items. The variety here is amazing and it would be hard to leave without having purchased some little morsel to enjoy at home.
Aside from enjoying what Choppit has to offer, this is a great chance to pick up beautiful fresh produce from The Gap Markets. Meat, cheese, pasta, fruit, veg, international delicacies and all sorts of goodies line the shelves, just waiting to be discovered.
It's great to see this business is supporting local producers, too. What a delight to discover they are stocking Scenic Rim 4REAL milk, Maleny Dairies milk and cream and Barambah Organics milk and yoghurt. These products are the real deal and so much tastier and more nutritious than the supermarket varieties.
If you're a foodie, this spot is a MUST. Enjoy a great coffee, treat yourself to something delicious (and maybe a little bit wicked) and take away some great produce to get cooking with when you go home.
