Chocoholics, it’s time to lavish yourself in all things sweet and oozy at the Chocolate Rush Festival. The luscious, weekend-long event is on at the Melbourne Showgrounds in Ascot vale on August 8th and 9th.

Not only will you have the opportunity to indulge your palate, you can also challenge it with chocolate products you’ve never tasted before. The festival is also very informative, so you’ll learn all about the much-loved cocoa bean and its fascinating history.

Did you know for instance that chocolate was a drink before it became a delicacy, a food before it became a treat, and was used as currency to buy everyday commodities?

The Spanish were the first to manufacture it, the Italians the first to master the art of dark chocolate, and the French, Germans and Swiss the avid enthusiasts who helped shape and grow its fine reputation. Bless them.

The festival runs plenty of different chocolate classes inviting you to roll your sleeves up – and get covered in chocolate. You even like to engage in a little chocolate wrestling!

There’ll be award-winning, international chocolatiers sharing their wickedly good wisdom in masterclasses, and even a Chocolate Market – now, that’s what I call a market.

Check out the huge program of temptations. There’s so much to dip into, you might need the whole two days ...

If it makes you feel any better, park the car some distance away – and walk.
